Hello again! I mentioned in my last post how I was working with my buddy to expand and grow my website. Well, as I said, it was largely due to SEO. If you’re wondering, SEO stands for search engine optimization and is by far my favorite method for marketing your website. Instead of using paid traffic or advertising, setting up SEO the right way has tons of long-term benefits.
The point of this post is for me to explain the 3 ways search engine marketing helped me and my website, and how you can do the exact same things to yours to see similar results.
- Building my site for my users. Too many people and articles I read about SEO consistently mention writing content for search engines. That’s so wrong! Search engines aren’t going to buy your products or services. People are! Write your content and build your site with your users in mind. At the end of the day, it’s the people using your site who are going to result in additional (or lack of) revenue for you and your business. Understanding this principle was vital for changing the way I thought about how to build my brand online. A few small shifts have made a world of difference.
- Writing content that is intriguing and compelling. Similar to reason #1, a lot of websites I visit tend to write content for the sake of having content on their site. Another massive downfall of many businesses. Instead of worrying about having content for the sake of filling your site, focus on creating USEFUL, ENGAGING content for your users. This will not only make them more interested when they do find you, they will be excited to come back. On top of that, they’ll be much more likely to share your content with others on social media or through their personal network of friends and family.
- Using social media to engage your audience. Social media continues to be an incredibly valuable source for interacting with your customers. Everyone market segment is on social media, so you can literally engage with any audience, regardless of your niche.
Keeping those factors in mind, it was really easy to transform my boring site and brand into something that was exciting, interesting, and started driving real results for what we wanted to accomplish. Plus, if you need any help, you can also contact a professional Chicago SEO company for help with your project as well.
I do want to give a mention to my friend who helped with all of this as well. He sent me the information of the SEO company in Chicago IL so they could help us make sure we were on the right path. If you are in need of SEO services, I strongly suggest you contact them. Working with them has transformed my vision of what SEO can do and how it can help – even from the foundational level on my website.
